Thira Mahmood

Thira Mahmood has a rich work experience spanning over several years. In 2005, Thira began their career as a Support Secretary at Birmingham City Council. Following this, they joined the Big Lottery Fund in 2006 and took on various roles including Assistant Grants Officer, Grants Officer, Corporate Officer (BPR Systems Tester & Project Officer), and Corporate Officer (Support Analyst). Their tenure at the Big Lottery Fund ended in 2018, having served as a Business Systems Analyst. Currently, Thira is working at The National Lottery Community Fund as an IT Business Partner, a position they have held since 2019.

Thira Mahmood completed a BSc Combined Hons in Computer Science and European Studies at Aston University. Prior to that, they attended Swanshurst School where they obtained 9 GCSEs including English, Mathematics, and Double Science. Thira then went on to Swanshurst Sixth Form where they studied A-Levels in Information Technology, Mathematics, and Physics. In addition to their formal education, Thira has obtained certifications in Agile Project Management Practitioner, BCS Certificate in Business Analysis Practice, BCS Certificate in Requirements Engineering, BCS Certificate in Systems Development Essentials, BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis, ISTQB-BCS Certified Tester Foundation, ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management, and SDI Service Desk Analyst.

Itdelegates the day-to-day running of the organisation to the chief executive and her senior management team.The chief executive and her senior management team are responsible for delivering the strategy and policies set by the board. They oversee the day-to-day running of the Fund.Their work is divided into five portfolios, covering funding across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, and the UK as a whole.
