Gene Fernandez is an accomplished IT executive with extensive experience in healthcare information systems. Currently serving as Regional CIO for Community Health Systems since June 2019, Gene directs the development of information systems aligned with hospital objectives across multiple Florida locations. Previous roles include Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Chief Information Officer at L.A. Care Health Plan, and CIO at Sparrow Health System and National Naval Medical Center, among others. Gene holds a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois Springfield and additional degrees in Administration and Healthcare Management from Purdue University and Southern Illinois University, respectively.
