COMMUNITY INVESTMENT CORPORATION, Chicago's Multifamily Rehab Lender, is a nonprofit providing mortgage financing to buy and rehab apartment buildings with five units or more in the 6-county metropolitan Chicago area. Since 1999 over 14,000 landlords and managers have completed CIC property management training to help them better market, manage and maintain affordable rental property. CIC also provides below-market financing for multifamily energy improvements in the Energy Savers program. Since 1984 CIC has loaned over $1.2 billion for acquisition and rehab of over 2,200 buildings with 58,000 units. In 2012 CIC received the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions.
