Community School
Phoebe Mendelson is an experienced educator currently serving as a 4th Grade Teacher at Community School since May 2022. Previous roles include various teaching positions at Ethical Society Nursery School, where responsibilities included serving as a Substitute Teacher, Lead Summer Camp Teacher, and Extended Day Teacher. Phoebe also worked as a Substitute Teacher at Community School, an Educational Interpreter at the Saint Louis Zoo, and participated in the College and Career Readiness Program as a Group Leader at Wyman Center. Additional experience includes interning with Girls in STEM at Tulane, organizing events that promote engagement in science and technology. Phoebe holds a Master of Education with an Elementary Teacher Certification from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies from Tulane University.
Community School
Community School is an independent elementary and preschool serving families with children age 3 through sixth grade. Students excel in an environment that balances intellectual challenge and nurturing support. The 7:1 student/teacher ratio allows for personalized attention and active, experiential learning. Community School’s beautiful 18-acre campus – with its woods, trails, pond, fields, and treehouse – provides a safe setting for exploration and a deeper understanding of concepts learned in the classroom. The school’s emphasis on character development, service learning, and public speaking helps to prepare students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
