Dan Smith

Dan Smith currently serves as the President and CEO of the Consumer Data Industry Association, a position held since June 2023. Prior experience includes serving as EVP and Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Consumer Bankers Association from March 2020 to June 2023, and as SVP and Executive Director of the Card Policy Council at the American Bankers Association from June 2019 to March 2020. From April 2013 to June 2019, Dan held the role of Assistant Director in the Office of Financial Institutions and Business Liaison at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where responsibilities included facilitating collaboration with industry stakeholders. Prior to this, Dan was the Director of Industry and State Relations at Freddie Mac for four years and served as Vice President for DeHart and Darr Associates from 1995 to 2009, representing major trade associations. Dan holds an MBA and BA in Political Science from Mount St. Mary's University.
