Emily A. Thomas is a distinguished automotive crash and occupant safety expert with extensive experience at Consumer Reports since April 2015, currently serving as Manager of Auto Safety. In this role, Emily oversees critical testing programs related to child seat safety and rear-seat evaluations, collaborates with content and policy teams to educate consumers and influence safety standards, and represents Consumer Reports at global scientific conferences. Emily has held leadership positions in the Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies, contributed to research and teaching in biomedical engineering at Drexel University, and authored numerous publications. Emily holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, along with degrees in Forensic Science and Biomedical Engineering.
