Covalent Metrology
Carlos Manuel Amaral is an accomplished materials engineer with diverse experience in sample preparation, failure analysis, and materials characterization. Currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at Covalent Metrology, Carlos specializes in TEM lamella preparation and collaborates with customers to optimize sample procedures. Previous roles include Lead Engineer at Eaton, where Carlos enhanced supercapacitor performance, and Materials Analyst at Nanolab Technologies, focusing on TEM sample preparation for integrated circuits. Carlos holds a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from San Jose State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Notably, Carlos has conducted research on lead-halide perovskite thin films for photovoltaics and interned at FUJIFILM Dimatix, Inc. to detect defects in inkjet printing devices.
