We develop AI/ML software tools to help the DoD detect enemies and threats and help biomedical researchers find new cures for diseases. About this position

CoVar seeks a motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented software engineer to fill a full-time role to develop and maintain real-time data processing software applications, including UI/UX, communications, and machine learning algorithm implementation.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team of machine learning engineers and other software developers, and will be customer service oriented.  The position will be located in Durham, NC. 

Minimum qualifications

• B.S. in a field relevant to computer science plus a minimum of 5 years of experience; or M.S. degree in relevant field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Experience with real-time, computationally-focused application development
• Minimum two years of demonstrated hands-on professional development experience with C++
• Proficient in Python with a minimum of one year demonstrated hands on professional development experience and exposure to scientific/computational libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc.
• Working knowledge of SQL and experience with one or more of MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite
• Experience with software development processes, including version control, documentation, code review, and testing
• Excellent technical communication skills; customer service oriented
• Ability to work in Durham, NC (relocation assistance available)
• Eligibility for US security clearance 

Preferred qualifications

• Linux application development
• Experience with standard signal processing techniques, pattern recognition, image processing, and/or machine learning techniques 

Bonus skills

• Department of Defense project experience
• Knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals
• Web application development
