Tim Helps is a seasoned professional with a robust background in robotic systems and engineering. Currently serving as the Solutions Performance Team Lead at Covariant since May 2021, Tim oversees a team focused on optimizing the performance of robots across Europe through machine learning and advanced motion control. Previously, as a Solutions Engineer at Covariant, Tim managed robotic deployments and developed AI-driven features. Academic involvement includes roles as an Honorary Research Fellow and Royal Academy of Engineering UK IC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bristol, where Tim explores insect-inspired robotics for various applications. With experience as a Research Associate on the Wearable Soft Robotics project aimed at assisting independent living, Tim also contributed as a Mechatronics Consultant for engineering education. Tim holds both a PhD and MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol.
