Jonathan Shaw

Jonathan Shaw is a distinguished academic and professional in the fields of photography and media. Currently serving as the Director of Educational Innovation and Technology and a Professor of Photography and Media at Coventry University since 2009, Jonathan focuses on advancing creative practices and leading efforts in the Disruptive Media Learning Lab. Jonathan has held various leadership positions, including Associate Head roles in the Department of Media, and has contributed significantly to curriculum innovations that have been recognized as best practices in the UK Higher Education sector. Additional roles include International Academic Board Member at Photography Studies College, Visiting Professor at the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice, and a freelance photographer with a focus on the representation of time and movement. Jonathan’s experience extends to serving as Chair of the Board of Directors at BOM and as a Trustee at The Photographers' Gallery, emphasizing advocacy for digital and open education. Jonathan's educational background includes an MA in Visual Communication: Photography and a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design.
