Juan Jose Obando's work experience begins in 2000 when they started their own law firm, OPRLEGAL, where they worked as an attorney and owner. In 2001, they joined InterLegal Corporation and E-Commerce Center as the Director Counsel and General Manager. Juan Jose also served as a Private International Law professor at Universidad de Costa Rica and Universidad de La Salle from 2010 to 2021 and 2003 to 2021, respectively. In 2011, Juan Jose served as the Director de relaciones SICA-ASADIP/Organizador de Jornadas 2011 en Centroamerica, organizing the ASADIP 2011 conference in Central America. Their most recent role is with CRDC Global, where they started as the Chief Innovation Officer in June 2021 and then transitioned to the role of Global Legal Director in August 2021.
Juan Jose Obando holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Law, Innovation, Science, and Technology from the Université de Montréal. Juan Jose also obtained a Master's degree in Private International Law from the Universidad de Murcia. In addition, they have completed various specializations, including one in International Legal Practice from the Universidad de Murcia, one in Private and Public International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law, one in Private International Law from the Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica, and one from the Universidad de Salamanca. Juan Jose Obando obtained their Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law from the Universidad de La Salle (CR). Juan Jose also obtained a specialization certification in Legal Tech and Innovation from The George Washington University School of Business in 2022.
