Matthew Morse has extensive work experience in the arts and cultural sectors. Matthew worked as the Director of Private Investment Capability at Creative Australia since 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director of Strategy and Programs at Creative Partnerships Australia from 2013 to 2023. In this role, they were responsible for creating and activating funding programs, managing the Australian Cultural Fund, and implementing skill-based volunteering and educational programs. Matthew also conducted research on giving trends to the cultural sector. Before that, Matthew served as the Cultural Development Manager at Sydney Theatre Company from 2010 to 2013, where they raised significant funding through philanthropic and government avenues. Matthew also held the same position at The Australian Ballet from 2008 to 2010, focusing on revenue-based partnerships and long-term sustainability. Additionally, they were the General Manager at BalletLab Association Inc from 2006 to 2008, where they developed the strategic vision and managed relationships with stakeholders.

Matthew Morse attended the University of Melbourne from 2004 to 2006, where they completed a degree in Cultural Community Development. Prior to that, from 1997 to 2001, they studied Contemporary Art at Deakin University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Matthew also pursued a Masters Degree in International Arts at RMIT University starting in 2005.
