Jan-Pieter Laleman currently serves as Chief Data Officer and Country and Sector Risk Expert at Credendo since February 2017. In this role, Jan-Pieter is responsible for improving and validating internal risk models and overseeing stress-testing exercises, including the revision of the Credendo Model Risk Management Framework. Previously, as a Country and Sector Risk Analyst, Jan-Pieter focused on the economic situation in the MENA region and East Africa, influencing Credendo's cover policy and risk appetite. Jan-Pieter holds a PhD candidacy in International Economics from KU Leuven, where research involved the impact of network features on international trade and sanctions on EU exports. Academic qualifications include Advanced Studies in International Economic Policy Research from the Kiel Institute, a Master’s in Quantitative Economics from KU Leuven, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from KU Leuven, complemented by an Erasmus exchange at Toulouse School of Economics. Additionally, Jan-Pieter has completed an intensive French course at Institut Français des Alpes.
