Marco Mariani began their work experience in 1995 as a System Administrator at Sferacarta sas, where they automated deployment and upgrades, customized Linux distributions, and migrated servers from SCO Unix/Xenix to Linux. Marco then worked as a Software Developer at Altafuente from 2000 to 2001 and as a Consultant at Eyegraphic in 2001. From 2002 to 2006, they served as a Software Developer at Sferacarta Net. In 2005, they worked as a Consultant at Incipit Srl for a brief period. From 2006 to 2011, Marco worked as a Senior Software Developer at Prometeia Spa, where they designed and developed line-of-business Web/Ajax applications. Marco then joined RedTurtle Technology S.r.l. as a Senior Web Developer from 2011 to 2012, focusing on back and front web development and data modeling. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Software Engineer at Nexedi SA. Starting in 2014, Marco joined Alter Way, where they held various roles including Lead Developer R&D. In this role, they were responsible for the deployment and management of the on-premises R&D infrastructure, architecture and development of monitoring and billing services, and backend development for the AiC project. In 2021, they joined CrowdSec as a Senior Software Engineer.

Marco Mariani attended I.T.I.S. F. Alberghetti Imola from 1988 to 1992 and obtained a Diploma di perito elettronico. Marco then enrolled in Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna in 1992 to study Computer Science, but ultimately dropped out without completing their degree.
