Sunil Gupta is the Chief Information Technology Officer and Special Assistant to the Executive Secretary at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) since September 2021. Previously, Sunil held the role of Director - Infrastructure Transition at Services Australia from March 2019 to September 2021. At the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Sunil served as Head of Service Delivery in the Division of Information Technology from March 2012 to March 2019. Sunil's earlier experience includes positions as Team Lead and Senior Tech Specialist at Oracle, Assistant Director at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and Senior Information Technology Officer at the Australian Taxation Office. Sunil Gupta has a Master of Business Systems degree from Monash University, completed between 1993 and 1995.

Why: To verify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which bans all nuclear explosions, everywhere, for everyone. This hampers both the initial development of nuclear weapons as well as their substantial improvement (H-bomb). It also helps prevent damage caused by nuclear testing to humans and the environment.
