Jacques Eksteen

Jacques Eksteen is a highly experienced academic and industry professional specializing in extractive metallurgy, particularly in precious and non-ferrous metals, critical metals, and battery energy storage technologies. Currently a Professor at Curtin University and a Professor (Extraordinary/Ajudant) at the University of Stellenbosch, Jacques has led significant research initiatives, including as Director of the Gold Technology Group and Chief Scientist of the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre. Prior roles include Group Consulting Metallurgist at Lonmin Plc and Process Engineer at Necsa, with a robust academic background comprising a PhD, MEng, and B.Eng in Engineering from Stellenbosch University. Jacques's expertise encompasses project management, research development, and the promotion of circular economies in battery technologies.
