Frederick Lau has a strong background in risk management and control, with experience in various banking institutions in Hong Kong. Frederick worked at Dah Sing Bank as the Group Chief Risk Officer and Group Head of Risk Management, starting in April 2018. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Risk Management and Control at the same bank from August 2010 to April 2018. Before joining Dah Sing Bank, Lau worked at Bank of China (Hong Kong) as the Head of Market Risk Department from October 2006 to August 2010. Frederick also served as the Head of Product and Risk in the Treasury Department at ICBC (Asia) from January 2005 to October 2006. Lau started their career at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in February 1996 as an Assistant Manager and later held the positions of Manager Trainee and Manager from May 1998 to January 2005.
Frederick Lau pursued their education with a focus on business administration and finance. Frederick obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a specialization in Finance from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where they studied from 1993 to 1996. Following this, from 1996 to 1999, they enrolled at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Besides their academic qualifications, Frederick Lau also obtained a certification called CESGA from EFFAS - The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies in January 2022.
