Douglas Wallace is an accomplished oceanographer with extensive experience in ocean science and technology. Currently serving as the Associate Scientific Director (Strategy and International) at MEOPAR since June 2024, Wallace also holds the position of Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) and Canada Excellence Research Chair in Ocean Science and Technology at Dalhousie University, where engagement in research, ocean observation systems, teaching, and leadership in project formulation is evident since October 1998. Previously, Wallace was the Scientific Director of the Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response (MEOPAR) Network from 2012 to 2024 and the Research Division Head at GEOMAR from September 1998 to July 2011. Wallace earned a PhD in Oceanography, Chemical from Dalhousie University (1980-1985) and a B.Sc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia (1975-1978).
