The Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Manager supports the effective management of our corporate health, safety & environmental program, employee education, and OH&S policy and procedure implementation. We’re looking for an OH&S Manager with strong interpersonal skills and continuous improvement mindset, that will promote and sustain a safety culture that effectively identifies and takes appropriate actions to promote the health and wellness of our employees.

What You Will Do:

  • Establish, implements, and maintains H&S policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and other safe work practices, processes and tools, in compliance with OHSA (Canada).
  • Builds processes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification
  • Promote the OHS culture to Managers, supervisor, Worker.
  • Monitor and share best practices in OHS throughout the company
  • Conduct site audits to ensure staff are following the H&S requirements
  • Lead crisis situations and act as a resource person for stakeholders
  • Identifies, develops and facilitates delivery of H&S training
  • Update and maintain safety awareness and training documentation; Ensure all training documents and certifications are maintained
  • Drive H&S metrics and provide data-driven insights to senior management; the development and maintenance of a H&S scorecard is critical
  • Lead investigative processes with committee members and provides recommendations for and evaluating corrective actions taken for continuous safe work practices
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal-Ability to effectively engage with Clients, supervisors and workers
  • Effective time management and critical thinking skills
  • Help team members develop and achieve their goals
  • Support and advise Business Partners on occupational health and safety issues
  • Conduct Health and Safety audit programs
  • Must travel on a periodic basis.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience with progressive responsibilities in H&S in a similar unionized environment;
  • Bachelor’s Degreein H&S Management or equivalent experience or education
  • Safety Designation: CRSP, CHSC or equivalent
  • Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Superior organizational, written, presentation and verbal skills to be effective in facilitating meetings, building safety awareness through information campaigns, training and education;
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and oral, tact and diplomacy
  • Keen sense of collaboration to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of H&S regulations, specifically OSHA requirements.
  • Must hold a valid passport and driver’s license with a clean Driver’s abstract
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset.
