Carsten Holst currently serves as the Forvaltningschef for Kultur og Borgerservice at Aarhus Kommune since August 2018, focusing on the development of policies for citizen services and libraries for the period 2024-2030. Additionally, Carsten has been a Strategic Advisor for Filmby Aarhus and the Den Vestdanske Filmpulje since August 2019, providing strategic guidance to ensure organizational goals are met within a complex governance structure. Carsten's previous roles include a member of the Presidents Institute since November 2017, a member of the Representative Assembly at the Danish Cultural Institute since November 2014, and a member of the board at Muskelsvindfonden until September 2020, among others. Carsten's educational background includes advanced studies in leadership and public administration from notable institutions such as Copenhagen Business School and Professionshøjskolen Metropol.

Danish Cultural Institute is a self-governing institution. Since 1940 we have been engaged in fostering mutual understanding between people and cultures. We believe that the arts and culture are among Denmark’s most important assets. We are commited to sharing knowledge on and sympathy for the values of the Danish society. In cooperation with partners, we develop international culture and societal events, Projects and people to people contacts, that can provide mutual value and inspire. It is our mission to contribute to strenghtening Denmark’s way of handling some of the challenges of globalization. This we do by focusing on arts, culture and society within a prioritized numbers of themes: children and youth, education, science, welfare and sustainability. We also focus on developing new ways of cooperation, which stimulate innovation and co-creation. In our activities we always try to create opportunities for intercultural relations, understanding, sustainable growth and development. Our Institutes abroad are the focal points for the creation of long term cultural relations, that contribute to inspire Danish arts and culture, and strengthen the mutual learning proces, that can challenge and inspire cultural life at home as well as abroad. At the moment we have branches in China, Brazil , India, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey. We have activities in Estonia, Lithuania, Belarus and South Korea. HQ is in Copenhagen, Denmark.
