Bruce Hoffman has a diverse range of work experience in software development and engineering roles. Bruce started their career in 2000 as a Senior Development Professional at InStep Software, where they led the development of a three-tier customer service application. Bruce then worked at TelePro as a Senior Software Engineer, developing control systems for aluminum production facilities. At Syntellect, Bruce developed and maintained proprietary C/C++ programs for a Customer Interaction Management system. Bruce then joined Navistar Inc as a Sr Vehicle System Optimization Engineer, where they self-taught Matlab programming and led the development of an in-house engineering tool. Bruce worked at Enghouse Interactive as a Senior Software Engineer, developing interfaces with FreeSwitch and integrating products with Microsoft Lync. Bruce had a brief stint at IdeaNova Technologies as a Principal Engineer, exploring web development technologies before realizing their passion for C/C++ programming. Bruce is currently working at Datalogics as a Senior Software Development Engineer II, creating command line tool applications in C/C++ and troubleshooting issues in a legacy codebase. Bruce has consistently shown a commitment to learning and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies in their field.
Bruce Hoffman has a strong educational background in engineering and computer science. Bruce earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Toledo in 1982. Subsequently, they pursued further studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1989. Bruce later expanded their expertise by completing a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the same institution in 1995. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications from Coursera, including Capstone: Retrieving, Processing, and Visualizing Data with Python, Using Databases with Python, Using Python to Access Web Data, Python Data Structures, and Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python).These certifications demonstrate their commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest technological developments.

Datalogics was founded in 1967 in Chicago. They started early in the “document technology” business, developing one of the first computerized typesetting systems, and building editing workstations and software to drive them (ask us what “working under DURESS” really means).In the early 80’s they participated in the ISO committee to standardizeSGML, the forerunner of XML and HTML, and applied this knowledge in developing their DL Pager and DL Composer publishing systems.In 1993 Datalogics was purchased by Frame Technology Corporation; and two years later Frame was purchased by Adobe Systems. Shortly thereafter, Adobe spun us back off as a privately-held independent company, retaining partial interest as an Adobe Ventures Company. Since 1998 they have been working with Adobe, acting as the key channel for several of their PDF toolkits including the Adobe PDF Library, Adobe Normalizer, Adobe PDF Print Engine, Adobe InDesign Server and the Adobe Reader Mobile SDK.Today their business focuses on providing these technologies to software developers and enabling them to bring their products to market faster and with superior eBook and PDF capabilities. From their downtown offices in the West Loop, they support hundreds of customers worldwide who are using their technology in diverse mission-critical applications.Over the past forty years, technology has changed dramatically, but their core values haven’t: they remain deeply committed to supporting their customers and staying technically-focused to provide them the best possible products and services.
