In this role, they focused on developing mainframe operating system support for new disk and tape storage products, including designing and implementing kernel-level device support software in IBM/370 Assembler and PL/1.

Dan Jatnieks completed their M.S. in Computer Science at Santa Clara University from 1990 to 1994. Prior to that, they pursued their B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1984 to 1987. In their earlier years, from 1982 to 1984, they studied Math and Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, although their degree name is not specified.
