Hans Born is the Assistant Director and Head of the Policy and Research Division at DCAF. Hans has extensive experience in conducting policy research studies in the areas of human rights, accountability, and security sector governance for various international organizations. Prior to their current role, Hans served as the Deputy Head, Senior Fellow, and Research Fellow in the Research Department at DCAF. Before joining DCAF, Hans worked as an Assistant Professor at the Royal Military Academy and as a First Lieutenant at the 435 Royal Netherlands Army. Hans also has experience working as a Management Consultant at ODRP Organisatie Adviesbureau. Hans holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Tilburg and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Twente.
