The Housing Navigator provides accessible ASL/Deaf friendly housing program services promoting information to Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties in the DFW area. Housing Navigator assists clients to stabilize housing. Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand the basics of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) programs. • Orienting potential eligible participants of the LIHTC by providing accessible related content and supportive services to promote participants self-sufficiency and integration into the community. • Assess housing barriers of deaf individuals and deaf families experiencing inaccessible communication to low-income housing taxes credit properties. • Develop housing procurement, financial, and self-sufficiency case management plan with clients. • Disburse funds to support clients with rental deposits and moving fees. • Serve as an ongoing Navigator between property managers and tenants as well as between tenants and neighbors. • Provide pro-active follow-up to ensure stability and further progress towards self-sufficiency. • Support clients in completing community benefits, such as Texas Rent Relief, Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program.
• Complete monthly reports, and data collection to ensure the Center receives funding for the program. • Create, foster and build positive relationships between tenant/participants and property managers and resource providers. (Provide outreach and workshops on low-income housing and resources to obtain such. • Support residents in making informed decisions about housing choices and eligibility.

COMPETENCIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

• Fluency in American Sign Languare (ASL) or commitment to learning ASL. • High School diploma or GED. • One to three months related experience or training. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software. • Demonstrated attention to detail. • Problem solving skills. • Data collection, assessment, and analysis skills. • Pursuit of self-development. • Meet commitments. • Maintain confidentiality. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • To perform this job successfully, an individual may need a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and ability to drive personal vehicle. Physical demands While performing the essential functions of this position, employees are regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to finger and feel, and adjust focus visually. This position works in an environment with moderate noise level.

$41,000 - $49,000 per year
