Matthew Clarke

Matthew Clarke serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Deakin University since January 2007, where responsibilities include delivering the university's research strategy and enhancing research performance across faculties. Additionally, Matthew holds the roles of Deakin Distinguished Professor and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Researcher Development, focusing on the development and support of early to mid-career researchers. Previously, Matthew served as the Head of School for both the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of International and Political Studies, along with various academic leadership positions. Matthew's research interests encompass international aid effectiveness, the Millennium Development Goals, and development in the Pacific region. Matthew is also a Board Member of Caritas Australia, an organization dedicated to international aid and development, prioritizing the inclusion of vulnerable populations in decision-making processes.
