Kari Stefansson

Kari Stefansson is a prominent geneticist recognized as the founder and CEO of deCODE genetics since May 1996. Previously, Kari served as a professor at Harvard Medical School from 1993 to 1996, specializing in neurology, neuropathology, and neuroscience, while also overseeing the Division of Neuropathology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Prior to that, Kari was a professor at the University of Chicago from 1983 to 1993, engaging in the Departments of Neurology and Pathology and contributing to the Committees on Immunology and Neurobiology. Educational background includes an MD from Háskóli Íslands and advanced clinical fellowships and residencies at the University of Chicago.
