Maddison Masaeli

Maddison is a strong believer in the power of engineering to advance the world of life sciences and to accelerate biological discovery. She invented Deepcell’s AI-based single-cell analysis and sorting technology with her postdoctoral advisor Euan Ashley and Mahyar Salek, and spun the company out of Stanford University in 2017. Originally from Tehran, Iran, she has a multidisciplinary background with experience in electrical engineering, computer science, and bioengineering. Maddison holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, as well as a master’s degree in computer science and a PhD in bioengineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has published several papers in top-tier journals and has co-invented multiple patented technologies.
