Jennie Hood

Jennie Hood currently serves as Assistant Secretary at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts since July 2023. Prior to this role, Jennie Hood was the Director of the National Situation Room at the National Emergency Management Agency from January to July 2023. Jennie Hood's extensive experience in the Australian Department of Health includes roles as Acting Assistant Secretary for various branches, including Health Emergency Management, Public Health and Surveillance, and Communicable Disease, along with serving as Director of Antimicrobial Resistance Policy and as Editor for Communicable Disease Intelligence. Jennie Hood also worked as a Scientific Programme Officer at the Global AMR R&D Hub and held multiple directorial positions related to communicable diseases and antimicrobial resistance policy from 2014 to 2018. Jennie Hood began their academic journey with a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology from Charles Sturt University, completed between 2001 and 2006.
