Derby City Gaming is owned by Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN) (“CDI”). CDI broke ground December 20, 2017, on its $60 million state-of-the-art historical racing machine (“HRM”) facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Derby City opened its doors in September 2018 with approximately 900 state-of-the-art historical racing machines, two casual dining areas, a center bar with large televisions and seating for 50, a horse racing simulcast wagering area, and a player’s club reward center offering special perks and benefits. Derby City Gaming created an estimated 400 new jobs for the local economy, including 250 construction jobs and 150 full- and part-time jobs to operate and manage the facility. The property now includes over 1,000 state of the art games from well-known manufactures across the gaming industry and is now 1 of 5 CDI owned HRM facilities in KY. 4 years later and Derby City Gaming is set to become the premier gaming property in the state of KY. An expansion broke ground in Winter 2022 that will see the property gain an expanded gaming floor, chophouse & bourbon bar, high limit gaming area, sports & entertainment bar and a brand new 5-story 123 room hotel. The gaming floor expansion is expected to open by the end of 2022, with the hotel and remaining amenities opening sometime in mid-2023. Derby City Gaming & Hotel will continue to elevate the entertainment experiences Louisville has to offer and ensure KY’s signature horse racing industry continues to thrive. In addition to the expansion on poplar level road, Derby City Gaming Downtown is expected to open in 2023 as well. A brand new property located in the heart of Downtown Louisville, DCGDT will be a tourist’s dream featuring 3 bar concepts, 600 HRM’s & Official KY Derby gift shop when the property opens.
