Carrie Schurman

Carrie Schurman currently serves as an Instructional Technology Specialist at Des Moines Public Schools since August 2024. Previously, Carrie accumulated extensive experience at West Des Moines Community Schools, where roles included Online Learning Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and Teacher from September 2001 to August 2024. Additionally, Carrie worked as a Case Monitor at Youth Justice Initiative-West Des Moines Police Department from August 2016 to July 2024, focusing on youth offender rehabilitation through restorative justice. Academic contributions include serving as an Adjunct Instructor at Drake University from September 2012 to May 2022, where Carrie emphasized engaging course design and active learning. Earlier positions include Social Studies Teacher at Iowa Learning Online and Youth Worker at Jasper County Youth Services. Carrie holds a Master of Arts in Instructional Technology from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master’s Degree in Quality Schools from Graceland University, and a BA in Social Science from Central College.
