Annabelle Steffes-Halmer has a diverse work experience in the field of journalism and media. Annabelle started their career as a Freelance Journalist with Reuters News Agency from 2011 to 2012. Annabelle then worked as a Freelance Journalist for ARTE from 2010 to 2015. From 2012 to 2013, they were an Autorin & Redakteurin at Fernsehbüro GmbH. Annabelle also worked as a Project Manager at mindjazz pictures from 2013 to 2014. Annabelle joined Deutsche Welle in 2012, initially working as a Freelance Journalist until 2021. Annabelle served as a Project Manager Distribution Europe from 2014 to 2015 and as a Project Associate in the Middle East/North Africa Division in 2015. Annabelle became a Senior Editor at Deutsche Welle from 2021 to 2022, and currently holds the position of Head of Unit Culture Online. In addition to their journalism career, Annabelle worked as a Freelance Translator for Free from 2008 to 2022 and as a Comic book translator for Panini since 2015. Annabelle also had a brief stint as a Freelance Journalist at WDR from 2016 to 2021.

In 2008 and 2009, they studied at The University of Freiburg, obtaining a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Deutsch-Französische Journalistik.
In 2006 and 2007, they attended Université Paris-Sorbonne, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Etudes franco-allemandes.
Lastly, starting in 2004 and ending in 2006, they studied at The University of Bonn, where they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Deutsch-Französische Studien.
