Dr. Kumaravel Rathinavel

Dr. Kumaravel Rathinavel has a diverse and extensive work experience in the wind energy industry. Dr. Kumaravel is currently serving as the Managing Director of WindGuard India at Deutsche WindGuard GmbH since July 2018. Prior to this role, they worked at ReGen Powertech from October 2010 to June 2018, holding the position of Vice President & Head of Engineering & Development. At ReGen Powertech, they were responsible for leading various technical departments and supporting functions related to wind turbine design, type testing & certification, load calculations, new technology development, wind resource assessment, energy yield assessment, project feasibility studies, operations & maintenance of wind farms, as well as top management activities related to wind business and profit & loss management. Dr. Kumaravel Rathinavel also worked at the National Institute of Wind Energy as a Senior Scientist in Testing & Certification from June 2000 to September 2010.

Dr. Kumaravel Rathinavel is currently pursuing a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they obtained a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology in Chennai, from 2017 to 2021. Dr. Kumaravel also holds a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Wind Energy from the University of Madras, completed from 2009 to 2015. Additionally, they have a Masters in Business Administration from Madurai Kamaraj University, obtained from 1999 to 2002, and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Road and Transport Technology, earned from 1995 to 1999. In terms of certifications, Dr. Rathinavel has completed various wind energy-related training programs, including HAWC2 - Load simulation training, BLADED - Load simulation training @ Bristol, UK, WAsP - Wind extrapolation & resource grid tool, and Wind Energy Expert Training from DTU - Technical University of Denmark, obtained in different years.
