John then worked as a System Engineer at Verizon from 2014 to 2016, where they developed a web application for issuing tickets and maintained servers and databases. John then served as a Team Game Production Teacher Assistant at SMU Guildhall in 2018, providing technical assistance in Unreal Engine 4 software development and team leadership coaching. In the same year, they joined Anki as a Software Engineer, Tools, where they created tools for audio designers and animators for the Vector robot project and improved workflow for animators using custom plugins. From 2019 to 2023, John worked at Jam City as a Software Engineer II, responsible for game programming on "Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery," app maintenance, game engine improvements, and integration of an analytics SDK. Currently, they are a Gameplay Engineer at Disruptive Games.
John Nguyen holds a Master's degree in Computer Software Engineering, which they earned from SMU Guildhall during the years 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Software Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas from 2010 to 2014. In addition to their formal education, John has obtained certifications in "Foundations of Programming: Object-Oriented Design" from lynda.com in October 2014. John has also earned a certification in "JIRA Software" from Lynda.com, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
