John Bowers

John Bowers has a long and varied career in marketing, communications, and writing. John began their professional career in 1990 as Manager of Regional Planning and Development at the Columbia Chamber. In 1994, they became a Writing Instructor and Writing Center Director at Western Carolina University. After that, they worked as Communications Director at Dagger Canoe and Kayak Company from 1997 to 1999. During this time, they also served as a Writing Instructor at Pellissippi State Community College. From 2001 to 2002, they worked as Communications Specialist and Writing Instructor at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. John then moved on to become Communications Director and Writing Instructor at Warren Wilson College. In 2016, they joined Everyday Health Group as Senior Manager: Creative Services, and in 2019 they became the Marketing Director at dmarcian.

John Bowers has a diverse educational background. John obtained a BS in Marketing/English from Lander University in 1988, followed by a BA & Secondary Certification in English/education from the same institution in 1994. John then earned an MA in English and Appalachian Studies (thesis) from Western Carolina University in 1996. In 2018, they completed a Certificate in Regulatory Affairs Training from Duke University School of Medicine. Additionally, they hold certifications from FEMA in IS-360, IS-363, IS-700, and IS-800, as well as a Veeva Vault PromoMats Certification from Veeva Systems.
