Mateusz Jakubowski has a strong background in the mining industry, with a focus on operations and engineering. Mateusz is currently the Chief Operating Officer at KGHM International, a position they started in April 2023. Prior to this, they held the same role at DMC Mining Services, beginning in January 2023. At DMC Mining Services, they also served as the Vice President of Technical Services from January 2021 to December 2022. Additionally, they worked as the Project Manager for the Victoria Project and held positions as Director, Manager, and Senior Project Engineer in the engineering department. Before joining DMC Mining Services, they worked at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. as the Head of Mining Unit, Foreign Assets from August 2017 to April 2019. Mateusz also served as a Member of the Board of Directors at KGHM Ajax Mining Inc. from May 2017 to March 2019. Mateusz started their career as a Graduate Management Trainee at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. in September 2013.
Mateusz Jakubowski holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, which they obtained from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Postgraduate Studies in Economic Geology and Methodology of Prospecting at AGH University of Krakow from 2014 to 2015. Mateusz also holds a Master of Applied Science in Mining Engineering and Geology from AGH University of Krakow, earned between 2012 and 2013. Mateusz's education journey started with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and Geology, which they attained from AGH University of Krakow from 2008 to 2012. In addition to their educational qualifications, they have certifications as a PMI Certified Member from the Project Management Institute, obtained in 2021, and in Customized Mine Design and Mine Plan for Long Term Planning - Open Pit MineSight from Hexagon Mining, earned in 2018.

In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world. 1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%. 2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada. 2015 DMC's Jansen team performed the first ever installation of shaft tubing using a robotic arm called the Blairmore Ring Erector (BRE). 2019 First full completion of 2 x 1000 metre BHP Billiton’s Jansen Shaft project using SBR technology.
