Luis Garcia is a mechanical engineer with a strong background in design and sustainability, currently serving as a Sustaining Engineer at DMF Lighting since January 2024. Previously, Luis held the position of Design Engineer at nVent SCHROFF from May 2022 to December 2023 and gained foundational experience as a Design Intern at the IDEA Engineering Student Center, where design visuals for advertising were created using the Adobe Suite. Luis contributed to research in the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego, focusing on surface-adaptive armor scutes for soft robotics. Leadership roles in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at UCSD included Finance Chair and Technical Chair, overseeing finances and managing project teams for the organization’s events. Luis completed a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Renewable Energy and Environmental Flows at UC San Diego in 2022.
