Karsten Zimmermann is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in surveying, geotechnical monitoring, data management, and software development. Currently serving as the Head of Monitoring and Data Engineering at DMT GROUP since 2005, Karsten leads a talented team and is the product owner of the in-house IoT platform DMT SAFEGUARD, ensuring customer-focused development and profitable operations worldwide. Previous roles at DMT GROUP include Deputy Head of Geo Field Services & Data Management and Project Manager, where Karsten managed various technical segments and led research and development projects. Prior experience includes a professional internship at the Sächsisches Oberbergamt Freiberg, gaining hands-on experience in international mining operations. Karsten holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Doctor of Engineering from TU Bergakademie Freiberg and an MBA from ESMT Berlin, underscoring a strong academic foundation in mine surveying and management.
