Lorenzo d'Episcopo

Development Scientist at DNA Electronics

Lorenzo d'Episcopo has extensive experience in the field of development and research in molecular biology and medical diagnostics. Lorenzo began their career as a Student Intern at Max Delbrück Center in 2004. From there, they worked as a Laboratory Technician at Microtest Matrices Ltd, where they were responsible for characterizing recombinant proteins, purifying antibodies, and printing protein and antibody microarrays. Lorenzo then pursued a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on the development of a multiplex point-of-care detection method for influenza viruses using an antibody microarray technology. During their time there, they conducted research on monoclonal antibodies, protein modification methods, and assay formats. After completing their PhD, they returned to Microtest Matrices Ltd as a Research Scientist, where they continued their work on improving and characterizing microarray immunoassays. Lorenzo eventually became a Senior Scientist at the company, taking on additional responsibilities such as coordinating large-scale production runs of protein microarrays. Most recently, they joined DNA Electronics as a Development Scientist, where they are involved in optimizing DNA immobilization chemistry and improving methods of solid-phase DNA amplification.

Lorenzo d'Episcopo pursued their education in the field of biotechnology, beginning in 2001 at Università degli Studi di Perugia. Lorenzo completed a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology in 2004. Following this, they enrolled in the Chemical-Industrial Biotechnology program at the same university and completed their degree in 2007. Lorenzo further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at Imperial College London from 2008 to 2012.
