Tom Atwell

Tom Atwell has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Tom started their career as a Senior Applications Developer at First American Trust, FSB in 2007, where they worked for almost 9 years. In 2016, Tom became the Lead Developer at ForeKarma, where they led the design and development of a prediction website. Later that year, they joined Chapman University as the Lead Software Developer, managing a team responsible for various online assets, including the university's flagship website.

In 2018, Tom took on the role of Director of Engineering at FormulaFolios, where they rapidly scaled up a new engineering team and developed core online services for the FinTech company. Tom'scontributions involved overseeing the building of project infrastructure and establishing four independent teams for continuous development and release of integrated web applications.

Moving on to CoStar Group in 2020, Tom served as the Lead Ruby Engineer for Apartments.com. Tom'sresponsibilities included guiding the development of a real estate management platform for independent landlords, handling billions of dollars in payments annually.

In 2021, Tom became an Engineering Manager at Clearcover, leading the States Initiative team. Tom played a crucial role in launching car insurance coverage in new states and implemented lean agile practices to enhance team cohesion and improve the launch cycle.

Currently, Tom is working as an Engineering Manager at doxo since 2022, where they continue to contribute their expertise in managing engineering teams and driving successful projects.

Throughout their career, Tom has gained proficiency in various technologies, including Ruby, Kotlin, Scala, Typescript, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS, Python, PHP, Javascript, Rails, Laravel, WordPress, Node, and more.

Tom Atwell has a Master of Fine Arts - MFA degree in Creative Writing from UC Irvine. Tom also holds a Bachelor of Arts - BA degree from UC San Diego.
