Ruoshi (Kelly) Shi, PhD has a diverse work experience in the fields of immunology, medical biophysics, and biomedical research. Ruoshi (Kelly)'sPhD thesis focused on lung cancer therapeutics, specifically the establishment of preclinical models such as patient-derived xenografts and organoids, and the identification of novel therapies for the treatment of lung cancer. Ruoshi (Kelly) addressed these aims through three research projects involving investigating PI3K pathway alterations in lung squamous cell carcinoma, characterizing ALK lung adenocarcinoma models, and establishing and characterizing lung cancer organoids for drug testing. Ruoshi (Kelly) completed their PhD in June 2019.

Prior to their PhD, Kelly worked as a Fourth-Year Research Student and Research Student at The Hospital for Sick Children from September 2013 to April 2014 and from May 2012 to August 2013, respectively. Ruoshi (Kelly) also gained research experience as a Summer Research Student at the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering, Beihang University from May 2011 to July 2011.

Ruoshi (Kelly) Shi, PhD completed their education in a chronological manner. Ruoshi (Kelly) first attended Henry M Gunn High School from 2006 to 2010 where they completed their high school education. Following that, they pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto - New College from 2010 to 2014. There, they obtained an Honors Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Neuroscience and Immunology. Continuing their academic journey, Ruoshi then enrolled at the University of Toronto from 2014 to 2019. During this time, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Department of Medical Biophysics.
