Charles R Drew Charter School
Claudia Fitzwater is an experienced educator with a strong background in language instruction and curriculum development. Currently serving as a Spanish Cohort teacher at Charles R Drew Charter School since July 2013, Claudia has created a STEAM curriculum and a Spanish Cohort program while teaching robotics in Spanish. Previous roles include Translation Project Manager and Copy Editor for Stacey Abrams for Governor, where Claudia focused on producing content for Hispanic audiences, and a long tenure as a Spanish teacher for Atlanta Public Schools, emphasizing hands-on learning and differentiation. Claudia's earlier teaching experience includes roles as a First Grade Immersion Teacher at Colegio La Arboleda and a Social Studies Teacher at Aspaen Liceo Tacuri, backed by a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Technology from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from Universidad Santiago de Cali.

Charles R. Drew Charter School opened in 2000 as the City of Atlanta's first public charter school. Drew represents the cradle-to-college pipeline in the East Lake community and is an integral part of a holistic neighborhood revitalization led by the East Lake Foundation.
