Tony Fawcett

Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Education at Durham University

Tony was appointed Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) in August 2015 and interim in October 2022. He is also a Professor in the Department of Biosciences. Tony joined Durham in 1995 and has undertaken a number of senior roles, with a focus on improving the educational experience of students.

Tony's disciplinary research focuses on understanding the ways in which plants make and store oil in their seeds, with a view to increasing the amount made without increasing agronomic (water, fertilizer etc.) inputs. His pedagogic interests lie in developing students as independent learners.
