Chief Cybersecurity Architect at Dynamic Animation Systems

Thomas Garrett has extensive work experience in various roles related to cybersecurity, operations management, and technical management. Thomas is currently serving as the Chief Cybersecurity Architect at Dynamic Animation Systems (DAS), where they provide industry-leading expertise in modeling and simulation solutions for engineering research and analysis.

Prior to their current role, Thomas worked at Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) from 2006 to 2022 as the Deputy Director of Operations. In this position, they served as the Corporate Security Officer (CSO) and managed several departments simultaneously to support the company's aggressive growth. Thomas also oversaw multi-million dollar facility construction projects, including the establishment of Department of Defense (DoD) certified closed areas. Thomas was responsible for managing various security departments, including Facility Security Officers (FSOs), Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs), Cybersecurity Compliance Engineers, InfoSec System Administrators, and COMSEC custodians.

Before IDT, Thomas worked at AOL from 2000 to 2006 as a Senior Technical Manager in Broadcast Operations Center. Thomas concurrently led and directed multiple streaming operations areas, overseeing the production of live streaming content for internet consumption. Thomas collaborated with broadcast leaders to integrate new technologies into the Broadcast Operations Center.

From 1989 to 2000, Thomas served as the Manager of Computer Services at Digital System Resources, Inc. In this role, they managed the operations of the Computer Services Department and supervised Senior System Administrators, PC/MAC Specialists, and Senior Network Engineers.

Prior to that, Thomas worked as an Engineering Systems Manager at Star Technologies from 1987 to 1989 and as a VAX/VMS System Administrator at PBS from 1986 to 1987.

Thomas Garrett has a strong education background in Information Systems and Mathematics/Computer Science. Thomas obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Systems from the University of San Francisco, where they studied from 2001 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1981 to 1986, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mathematics/Computer Science.

In addition to their formal education, Thomas Garrett has also acquired certifications in the field of computer security. Thomas obtained the Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) certification from EC-Council in May 2018. Three years earlier, in August 2015, they obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification from the same institution. These certifications demonstrate their expertise and commitment to staying current in the field of cybersecurity.
