Hi, I’m Makoa! Born and raised in sunny Southern California, I’ve always been surrounded by the vibrant energy of SoCal living. These days, I call Rancho Santa Margarita home, where I live with my high school sweetheart-turned-wife, our two little ones (ages 3 and 1), and our always-spirited dog. Life at home is a joyful whirlwind of toddler giggles, dog antics, and plenty of family adventures—never a dull moment!

Professionally, I bring over a decade of experience as a software engineer, specializing in crafting scalable backend solutions that solve real-world problems. I’ve honed my skills in C#, .NET, REST APIs, and cloud technologies, leading architectural discussions, modernizing applications, and collaborating across teams to deliver impactful results. Whether it’s designing complex systems or diving into debugging, I enjoy turning challenges into opportunities to innovate and grow.

What truly excites me about my work is the collaboration—working with product teams, engineers, and stakeholders to bridge the gap between technical needs and business goals. I thrive on problem-solving, whether it’s optimizing performance, enhancing security, or ensuring seamless integrations.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about surfing and have been chasing waves for the past 15 years. I know every break in SoCal and would happily live at San Onofre if it paid the bills! My wife and I are huge Disney and Marvel fans, and while I’ve always been a gamer at heart, these days I’m mostly busy being Dad. I love spicy foods (the spicier, the better!) and exploring new flavors in the kitchen.

My extended family is spread across Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii, and my wife and I (pre-kids) used to visit often—it’s still one of our favorite things to do when we can. Whether it’s enjoying a family hike, finding a new favorite food spot, or geeking out over the latest Marvel movie, I love living life to the fullest and embracing every opportunity for adventure.
