Austin Cheney has held several prominent academic positions since July 2013 at Eastern Illinois University, currently serving as the Dean of the Lumpkin College of Business & Technology. Additional roles at the university include Chair and Professor in the School of Technology and Interim Director of the Office of International Students and Scholars. Austin Cheney is also an ACE Fellow with the American Council on Education since April 2023. Prior to this, Austin Cheney served as Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Management and Engineering Technology at Alfred State College from July 2006 to June 2013 and directed the Concrete Industry Management Program at Middle Tennessee State University from July 1998 to June 2006. Earlier experience includes an Assistant Professor and Coordinator role at Rhodes State College from September 1993 to June 1998. Academic credentials include a Master of Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University, a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Vanderbilt University, and two degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton.
