Melissa Lash

Research Microbiologist at EBMUD

Melissa Lash is a seasoned microbiologist with extensive experience in microbiology and molecular biology analyses, particularly in wastewater and drinking water. Currently serving as a Research Microbiologist at EBMUD since July 2015, Melissa focuses on research and development while ensuring compliance with ELAP and TNI requirements. Previously, Melissa held the position of Director of Environmental Testing at AEMTEK, Inc., where leadership was provided for laboratory operations involving the identification of fungi and bacteria. A background at the City of San Jose as a Microbiologist involved managing laboratory operations and ensuring compliance with EPA regulations. Prior experience includes a decade at Forensic Analytical Laboratories Inc. as Laboratory Manager, where Melissa led a team in environmental sample analysis and new service development. An academic foundation includes a Master of Science in Mycology and Population Genetics and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology from the University of Alberta. Melissa also co-founded SimpleFood, an organic food cooperative aimed at providing organic foods at wholesale prices.
