Anthea Blackburn is an experienced professional in the field of chemistry, currently serving as the Team Leader for Surfactants at Econic Technologies Ltd since January 2016. Blackburn has successfully led the introduction of novel CO₂ containing polymers within the surfactants industry and has guided the strategic direction for taking these new products to market. Previous roles at Econic include leadership positions in technical business development and catalyst recycling, as well as a senior scientist position focusing on catalyst development, where Blackburn specialized in designing and testing new generations of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. Anthea Blackburn obtained a PhD in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry from Northwestern University, where research involved synthesizing redox-active molecules under the guidance of Sir Fraser Stoddart. Additionally, undergraduate research at the University of Otago contributed to significant work in the coordination of ligands to metal ions. Blackburn also has experience in records management from a role at the Accident Compensation Corporation.
