Gary Dillon is an experienced electrical engineer with a strong background in renewable energy, particularly in wind projects. Currently employed at EDF Renewables UK & Ireland since March 2022, Gary focuses on managing the integrity of operational wind farms and projects under construction. Previously, Gary worked at SSE Renewables from January 2019 to February 2022, contributing to both offshore and onshore wind project developments, including the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm. Prior experience includes serving as a Renewable Energy Consultant at Mott MacDonald, where project management duties involved acting as Lender's Technical Advisor and Owner's Engineer, and as a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer at Hulley and Kirkwood Consulting Engineers. Gary holds a Master of Science in Wind Energy Systems and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Strathclyde.

We are building the 177 MW Dorenell wind farm near Dufftown in the Scottish Highlands and have bought the 450 MW Neart Na Gaoithe offshore wind farm project which is in the Firth of Forth. EDF Renewables has more than 1 GW of renewables projects in planning and development. We look after the operations and maintenance of our own wind farms. Customers need new low carbon electricity to be affordable – our innovation is driving costs down, for example our Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project which has used float and submerge technology on the foundations, 66 kV electrical connection cables and 8.3 MW turbines – all firsts in offshore wind. We are also looking at the future of onshore wind using the most modern and efficient turbines to make this technology as low cost as possible. The increase in wind and solar power poses new challenges for the grid, that’s why we have built the UK’s largest battery storage at West Burton B to help balance supply and ensure reliability for customers.
