Ndamulelo Mararakanye is a highly experienced senior engineer currently employed at EirGrid Group since March 2023, having previously held senior engineering positions at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research from November 2022 to February 2023 and at the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies from November 2016 to October 2022. Ndamulelo began a professional career at Eskom, where roles included Network Optimisation Engineer and Engineer in Training from February 2014 to October 2016. Ndamulelo holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stellenbosch University, as well as an MSc and BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, completed in 2017 and 2013, respectively. Educational foundations were laid at local schools, including Milton Mpfumedzeni High School and Khavuwe Senior Primary School.

The grid takes electricity from where it is generated and delivers it to the distribution network, operated by ESB, which powers every home, business, school, hospital, factory and farm on the island.
