Michael Newton is a highly experienced electrical engineer specializing in high voltage grid connections for renewable energy projects. Since June 2017, Michael has served as Market Leader and Principal Engineer at ElectroNet Consulting, overseeing a team of 18 engineers in the design of substation projects. Previously, Michael held the position of Team Leader and Senior Electrical Engineer, focusing on transmission infrastructure projects for Transpower. Prior engineering roles include Senior Electrical Engineer at PSC, where Michael provided HVDC consultancy services, and Development Engineer at Transpower, managing substation design contracts and technical standards. Michael began a career in engineering through the Transpower Graduate Program, gaining diverse experience across multiple teams. A Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Electrical Engineering was attained from the University of Canterbury.
